Author Guidelines


Paper Submissions:

Papers are required to be submitted via EDAS Paper Processing System: http://edas.info/N23373; authors have to determine which symposium to submit the paper to. More description on each symposium of ICNC 2017 can be found at the webpage: http://www.conf-icnc.org/2018/cfp.htm, and the authors can also submit paper there via the direct weblink to EDAS paper submission page. Any questions regarding to the paper submissions can be addressed to the TPC Chair, Dr. Haonggang Wang at hwang1 AT umassd DOT edu.

It is required that the manuscript follows the standard IEEE camera-ready format (double column, 10-pt font) as well as the requirement set by EDAS paper submission system. The maximum length of ICNC paper without over-length charge is FIVE (5) page. The authors are allowed to pay for up to TWO (2) additional pages at $150 per over length page. Submitted papers may not have been previously published in or under consideration for publication in another journal of conference. The organizing committee of ICNC reserves the right to not review papers that either exceed the length specification or have been submitted or published elsewhere. Submissions must include title, abstract, keywords, author and affiliation with email address.  

During the initial paper submission process via EDAS, the authors are required to make sure the pdf file and EDAS registration page of a paper have the same list of authors and the paper title. Be certain to add all authors in EDAS during the initial paper submission process. Failure to comply with this rule may cause a paper be withdrawn from the review process. Once reviewed the listing of authors connected to the paper can NOT be changed in the final manuscript.

Accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.


Paper Presentation:

All ICNC papers are presented in the conference in lecture style presentation. The authors acknowledge that accepted papers need to be presented in person at the conference by one of the authors of the paper. Papers that are not presented (for any reason, including visa issues, travel problems, etc.) may be removed from IEEE Xplore.

a. Each lecture style session room will be set with an LCD projector. Please bring your own laptop.

b. Each lecture style presentation is allocated 20 minutes (or depending on the number of papers in the session). You should spend about 18 minutes for presentation of the problem, the background, the innovative approach, the new results and the comparative evaluation. An additional 2 minutes should be available for discussion with the attendees. 

c. The presenter should prepare a reasonable number of illustrations - transparencies or a Power Point file, so as not to exceed the 18 minute time. Typically, one (1) illustration is presented in one to two minutes. Additional illustrations could be prepared to support possible answers to attendees' questions.

d. Each illustration should not be crowded by text and graphics. Too much text should be avoided: illustrations should support the presentation; they should not be simply read by the presenter. Graphics help in communications, are more understandable, and point out the basic ideas. 
Use large fonts so they can be read without a major effort; typically 18-20 point fonts should be used.

e. Presentation should be clearly structured. Begin with a title page. The index of the presentation should outline the presentation. The basic problem should be clearly stated, as well as the application area. Background and previous work should be summarized to provide a prospective for the results presented in the paper. The innovative approach should be clearly stated. The application of the approach to the application problem should be described, by pointing out the main features and characteristics, the problems and the solutions. The results should be clearly outlined and evaluated. Appropriate comparison with previous results should be presented. Conclusions should summarize the work performed and point out the main innovation and results. Future work and developments could also be sketched.
